A halt on the way to the pilgrimage St Jacques de Compostelle along the Garonne river.
The village is fortified and has 3 gates. One of them is covered with a brick clock tower dating from the late 17th c. The triangular square is surrounded by rich 17th and 18th mansions. A grain covered-market was built in 1825. Ste Catherine’s church is dedicated to boatmen who worked on the Garonne.
The Hotel and restaurant de l`Horloge, next to the tower of the Horloge, is on the route that goes through Auvillar, between Agen and Castelsarrasin.
