Les
Plus Beaux Villages de France a French, not-for-profit, organization.
From
Alsace to the Pyrenees, from Britanny to Provence, the non
for profit organization “les
Plus Beaux Villages de France” (France’s Most
Beautiful Villages) gathers 144 villages. Each member of
the association has been rigorously selected on the quality
of their architecture, environment, and patrimony. All of
them are beautiful but each one is specific.
In 1982, the association was created by the mayor of a small
and beautiful village located in the center of France. He
noticed that some of the many villages of France had been
spared by the uncontrolled development of cities, and remained
protected. He wanted to federate the energies still alive
all over France to protect and develop in the proper way
their notoriety, and support their evolution.
Quality
If there were only one word which could remain, Quality
would be the one. The association, focuses on quality from
the beginning. The selection of new villages (and the re-examination
of the members) is based on set criteria, which measure
the quality of the villages and their development.
Notoriety
The association shares with its members successful experiences
which took place in villages, provides expert advise, and
leads communication action to increase the notoriety of
the association as well as the one of its members. Some
of the villages are world wide famous and the other will
become so.
Development
In association with ComeToParis-ComeToFrance, to which an
excusive license has been granted, the association “Les
Plus Beaux Villages de France” has implemented the
tourist development of the villages, according to the quality
requirements. Stays and trips have been set up and elaborated
with the inhabitants of the villages who want to share their
passion. So they share the information which is available
on this website, and you will meet them in the villages.
