Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei
 Normandy
Between wood, stone and water, Saint-Ceneri-le-Gerei is in the very heart of Mancelles Alps.
The village was founded by Saint Ceneri an Italian hermit who had built a monastery later burnt down by the Normans. A church was later built on the same spot in the 11th. There are magnificent 16th murals inside and a painted ceiling that is unique in France and which was recently restored. Around the church, the ancient houses are well kept. The village attracted famous 19th painters such as Corot and Courbet.
