of your Chateau hotel in Chinon: Le Chateau de
Danzay in Chinon : Built in 1461 by the squire of Louis
XI, this small medieval castle welcomes you in an enchanting
peaceful setting.

located in the fortified town of
Chinon and next to three of the Most Beautiful
Villages of France, its a privileged place for leisure,
relaxation and dream….

you experience a real castle- life. You are accommodated
in very comfortable rooms richly decorated with ancient
furniture and precious carpets. In your spare time, you
can relax on the terrace, along the swimming-pool and stroll

2 - Saturday, Fontevraud Abbey

Morning
Guided visit of the Chateau
de Chinon, an impressive fortress overlooking
the beautiful Vienne Valley and in the heart of French and
English histories.
Lunch
at La Licorne in Fontevraud, an elegant, Michelin one-Star
rated restaurant, where you will taste very fine cuisine and
vintage wines of Touraine.

Free
afternoon:
we advise you a visit of the Fontevraud Abbey, founded in
the Xth century and one of the most powerful monastic center
in French history. You will be filled with wonder in this
huge and fine architectural grouping of roman and gothic
styles, housing the tomb and the colored recumbent statues
of Henry II de Plantagenet, Richard Lion's Heart and Alienor
d'Aquitaine.
On
the way back to Chinon, you can stop in small villages of
the Vienne valley, and marvel at their moving roman style
church.

3 - Sunday, Candes St Martin
|
|
|
Free
time in the typical market
of Montsoreau (each second
Sunday of the month, don't miss the flee-market), followed
by a worthwhile walk along the "Path of patrimony" from
Montsoreau to Candes-Saint-Martin along the banks of the
Loire River.
Free
lunch in Candes-Saint-Martin.
Free
afternoon in Candes-Saint-Martin,
one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Built on the
flanks of a mount, the collegiale and white houses of Candes
mirror themselves in the waters of the Vienne and the Loire
Rivers. Don't miss the magnificent gothic collegiale of
the XIIth century. Return to Montsoreau.

4 - Monday, Montsoreau and Wine tasting
|
|
|
Free
time in Montsoreau, a pretty
place amongst the Most Beautiful Villages of France on the
banks of the Loire.
Guided
visit of a wine producer in Montsoreau and tasting
of vintage wines of Touraine.
Lunch:
at L'Aigue-Marine restaurant, a pleasant boat-restaurant
that offers a beautiful view on the Loire.
In
the afternoon, free visit of the impressive chateau
de Montsoreau through a remarkable audiovisual
trail dedicated to the history of the Loire valley. A wine
testing session is offered for our guests in
the castle's cellar after the visit.
