What to discover?

Bordeaux is an historical city which managed to safeguard its patrimony. At first sight, Bordeaux is a town of the 18th century. The harbor, the Rohan palace have been built during the age of enlightment (Montesquieu was the city major), which was the peak of the city history thanks to wine and triangular trades.

Bordeaux is nowadays a student city full of life and charms. Obviously, the architectural patrimony is amazing and Bordeaux is a beautiful town. The Place des Victoires, the Opera house, the Place des Quinconces, which is largest non building square in Europe, are beautifully neoclassical. But, there are also Roman remnants such as the Palais Gallien and medieval chapels and cathedrals, some of them are world heritage registered.

Nevertheless, Bordeaux is a lively town, the quay of the Paludates, which borders the Garonne River, is full of restaurants and night clubs; there is also a Casino. Moreover, one of the major specificities of Bordeaux is gastronomy: world-famous vineyards, duck steaklet, edible boletus and foie gras, in fact all that give to French cuisine its fame and renown. The area of Bordeaux is also fascinating.

First of all, the most prestigious vineyards in the world such as Sauternes, Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Margaux, Saint-Emilion and so many others are very close and can be visited with wine-tasting sessions.

The Nature around the city is generous and various. Let's quote the Atlantic Ocean, the forest of the Landes, the hills of Perigord, which have been under English domination during a long period.

The Atlantic coast is endowed with famous places such as the Pyla sand dune, which is the highest in Europe, Cap Ferret, the island of birds and the Basin of Arcachon well-known for its oyster-farming. The Perigord has great landscapes and patrimony with Sarlat and some of the Most Beautiful Villages of France: Limeuil, Monpazier, Monflanquin, Pujols-le-Haut, Beynac et Cazenac, La Roque Gageac, Domme, Saint Leon sur Vezere, Belves, and many others.
