The red-light district of Pigalle lies at the southern end of the Montmartre Hill or la butte Montmartre. You will have here numerous clubs, theaters, sex-shops, or legendary revues such as the Moulin Rouge. It is obviously an area where nightlife can be wild. On the quieter and maybe more genuinely local side, a few Parisian bistros still hold their own.
Montmartre is a village perched on top of a hill. Little cabled streets wind their way around the Basilique du Sacre Coeur and the Place du Tertre.
