LavardinHome of the 16th poet Ronsard, the village still has its medieval castle. The village entered history when it resisted Richard the Lion’s Heart in 1118. At the top of a sandstone cliff, the fortress overlooks the village. A gothic-style bridge with 8 arches stretches over the Loir river. All the different periods of history have left their mark : troglodytic, gothic and Renaissance. Lavardin also boasts druidic caves, a unique sight in France.
