Lavardin

Centre

Home of the 16th poet Ronsard, the village still has its medieval castle.

The village entered history when it resisted Richard the Lion’s Heart in 1118. At the top of a sandstone cliff, the fortress overlooks the village. A gothic-style bridge with 8 arches stretches over the Loir river. All the different periods of history have left their mark : troglodytic, gothic and Renaissance. Lavardin also boasts druidic caves, a unique sight in France.

What to discover?
