Center
Deriving its name from a 5th century bishop, the village stretches at the bottom of a narrow vale lined with steep rocks.
With its back to the rocks, the 13th castle owes its creation to the lord of Champeix. The keep has a vaulted room in gothic style which was used as a temple by the protestants in the 17th. On the northern and western walls, the remains of frescoes tell the story of Tristan and Isolde.
On the other side of the village, the roman-style church of Chastel built in the 14th , a mural depicts the local lords and his family: St john introduces them to Jesus and Mary.
What to discover?
• Castle: everyday on appointment in July-August.
• Church romane from Chastel: everyday except Tuesday and Wednesday 14h-18h in July-August, on appointment rest of the year.
