VézelayAt the top of a steep hill, the village faces the mounts of Morvan. Erected in the 12th c. in Mary Magdalene’s honour, whose relics are kept there, the abbey is a place of pilgrimage and one of the starts to Compostelle. Bernard de Clairvaux came there in 1146 and made the abbey one of the holiest in Christendom. The abbey suffered much from the passing of time until it was restored in the 19th c. the power of faith can still be felt on this eternal hill.
