The Nourishment of all senses: harmony and serenity in the heart of Provence. Located inside Venasque, the Auberge La Fontaine provides the best comfort and also proposes cooking lessons.
Nearby Avignon and the Isle of Sorgue, this exceptional château of the XIth century dominates an authentic village of the Provence. Renovated with elegance, rooms and suites are very comfortable and refurnished with style. Enjoy calm, serenity and magnificent views from the gardens and rooms. The cuisine is provincial and offers a large choice of regional wines.
At the foot of mount Ventoux, Venasque took advantage of its exceptional position, at the tip of a spur protected on three sides from possible attacks. Three towers called sarrazines were erected to protect the only moot point in this natural defensive place. In the 6th, St Siffrein, a monk who became a bishop, came to seek refuge there and built the first cathedral-church, of which the baptistry remains, it was carved in the shape of a Greek cross from the pillar of a Roman temple. Eglise Notre Dame holds a wonderful crucifixion typical of the Avignon school in 1498.
