The Most Beautiful Villages of France
Montréal-du-Gers
Perigord - Dordogne
Surrounded by the vineyards of Armagnac, the village is built on a celtiberic oppidum.
Built in 1253 by St Louis’ brother, Montreal du Gers is the first bastide (fortified town) in Gascogne. With the typical plans of bastides, fortifications, gothic church from the 13th century with its wooden bell tower, pre-roman church from the 8th century, a gallo-roman villa with 30 floor mosaics, Montreal du Gers has a lot of visits and activities to offer.
