What to discover?

The Camargue, situated between the two branches of the Rhone River, is one of the loveliest natural settings in Europe, well know for its fauna and flora. The chain of hills called the Alpilles, offers a land of vineyards and olive groves. The Most Beautiful Village in France, les Baux de Provence overlooks the Alpilles. Finally, the Crau, an arid rocky plateau, is inhabited by an extraordinary number of birds.

The town, listed City of Art and History, is known for the wealth of its Roman and Romanesque heritage. Many monuments such as Roman amphitheatre (the arena), the Roman theatre, the Cryptoportico (foundations of the Roman Forum), the Roman baths of Constantine, the remains of the Roman circus, etc. are listed Unesco world heritage.

Three museums are well worth a visit: the Musée d’Arles et de la Provence Antique, the Arles archaeological museum, the Museon Arlaten, the local ethnographical museum, the Musée Réattu, Donation Picasso, the fine arts museum.

With more than 300 days of sun per year, Arles is a city of the south where life is easy.
